Shell & Tube

The classic Shell & Tube heat exchanger is a proven solution for heavy industrial applications, particularly in the energy, chemical, and petrochemical sectors.

Due to its robust construction, this type is suitable for high pressures (max 1,000 bar), high temperatures (1,000 degrees C), and high capacities such as condenser and evaporator applications. Ideal for situations where reliability, craftsmanship, and process continuity are paramount.

Micro Shell & Tube

The micro Shell & Tube heat exchanger offers the same reliability as a classic Shell & Tube cooler, but in a much more compact design. By using microtubes, a high heat transfer efficiency is achieved within a small or very limited installation space.

This version is ideally suited for applications where space and weight are limited, such as modern marine installations and compact drive systems. This design is also very suitable for pilot-scale installations, making the scalability from a pilot plant to a larger facility easier.

Kettle Reboilers

ROBOX has supplied a wide range of kettle reboilers for various demanding processes. A kettle reboiler is characterized by an oversized shell (TEMA K-shell) and often a removable tube bundle (S-bundle with fixed tubes and floating head or U-bundle with a single tube sheet and U-tubes). Kettle reboilers are available in various sizes and materials, depending on the application.

Seawater cooling applications

For installations and production facilities located near the coast, ROBOX offers various seawater-cooled shell & tube heat exchangers. The tube bundles are available in materials such as titanium, 254SMO, Naval Brass, or Admiralty Brass to ensure optimal corrosion resistance against salt seawater. The use of seawater offers a significant advantage, as it often eliminates the need for a separate process cooling water system.

Water-cooled steam surface condensers (Shell & Tube)

For power plants operating near the sea, ROBOX can supply water-cooled steam surface condensers that offer significant advantages. Air-cooled steam condensers operating under vacuum often require a very large footprint. In contrast, a water-cooled steam surface condenser can be placed directly next to the turbine. The turbine can even be mounted directly onto the condenser through the integration of a turbine flange and inlet in the shell. This compact setup is ideal for CHP (Combined Heat and Power) plants located near the sea or with limited available space.

Waste Heat Boilers

Boilers for recovering residual heat from industrial processes. These are often placed behind incineration plants, reactors, burners, or gas turbines to capture the released heat and reuse it in other process streams, thereby increasing overall efficiency.

To withstand high temperatures, the tube bundle can be made of high-grade and exotic materials, such as SS321, Inconel, or Incoloy, or be provided with a refractory lining, or a combination of both. ROBOX determines the optimal solution by analyzing and calculating the entire thermal process, after which the configuration that best suits the specific application is selected.

Alternatives to the TEMA D-Head

ROBOX offers various alternatives that can replace the traditional TEMA D High Pressure Head or even provide a technically superior solution in certain applications. Depending on the dimensions of the heat exchanger, fully forged heads can be used. The production method and execution are always tailored to the design that best suits the specific application.

Skid-mounted & Packaged Coolers
