Intercooler

ClassificationFixed tube sheet heat exchanger with removable bonnets and water injection.
FeaturesThe client will be stripping nitrogen from a gas stream. This gas stream must be heated and cooled during the process.

Intercooler

The heating of the gas takes place on the tube side.

Since the gas passes through the tubes and the shell, a maximum pressure drop of the combined flows had to be taken into account. The combined pressure drop could not exceed the pressure that the fan can deliver.
Due to the relatively low velocity in the tubes, turbulators were used to achieve a turbulent gas flow. This ultimately ensured that the heat transfer and pressure drop are in balance.

Due to the user’s process specifications, a funnel plate has been installed to prevent liquid precipitation.

The collaboration with the client was constructive from the start, which allowed us to meet the client’s deadline despite this challenging design.

This concerns a Shell & Tube heat exchanger. A fixed tube sheet heat exchanger with a removable bonnet and injection capability, TEMA type BEM. Entirely in SS304(L) according to ASME VIII Div.1
